Attachment Therapy in Lakewood, CO
Have you ever felt like you are performing your life rather than living it?
Do you find yourself shrinking in your relationships, afraid that if you showed your true preferences, needs, or hurts, you would be too much or simply not enough?
If you carry a deep sense of aloneness, even when you are surrounded by people, the root may lie in your earliest blueprints of connection. At Lakewood Holistic Counseling, I specialize in relational and attachment based therapy to help you rewrite these internal scripts.
Using a powerful modality called Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), we work to transform the way you relate to yourself and others.
Healing isn't just about understanding your past; it’s about experiencing a new kind of safety in the present. As an attachment based therapist, my goal is to provide the secure base you may have missed, allowing you to finally take up the space you deserve.

What Is Attachment Based Psychotherapy?
Our earliest relationships with caregivers act as a map for how we navigate the world. These early bonds dictate whether we view others as safe, whether we believe our needs are valid, and whether we feel worthy of love.
When we don't have a secure attachment, we develop survival strategies such as hyper-independence, people pleasing, or we shut down entirely to protect ourselves.
In attachment oriented therapy, we don't just talk about these patterns; we actively work to repair them. We use the relationship between us, in the therapy room, as an experience for healing.
AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) is a unique, healing-oriented model that fits perfectly within the framework of attachment. While many traditional therapies focus on what is wrong with you, AEDP looks for what is right. It is based on the idea that we are all wired for healing and growth, but we need the right relational conditions to unlock it.
As a relational, attachment based therapist, I use AEDP to:
Undo Aloneness: This is the heart of AEDP. We ensure that you never have to face a difficult emotion by yourself in our sessions. It might feel scary to have someone be with you in your pain, so we work at the speed of your nervous system.
Parts Work: We explore and get to know all the different parts of you. Oftentimes, parts can be traced back to childhood. In AEDP, we go back and take care of these parts, so that all of you can be supported.
Focus on the Right Now: We pay close attention to the micro-moments of connection between us. When you feel a spark of hope or a moment of relief, we stay there. We focus on the positive shifts to strengthen your nervous system.
Process Emotion Somatically: We don't just stay in a verbal back and forth, intellectual conversation. We notice how your body feels when we talk. Does your chest tighten? Does your breath catch? By staying with these physical sensations in a safe relationship, the emotions can be fully processed, seen, and known.
AEDP is grounded in the research that our brains are neuroplastic. This means that our brains can change through experience. When you have a repeated experience of being seen, felt, and known by a therapist who is truly present, your nervous system begins to let go of its chronic high-alert or shut down status. Through that repeated relational experience your nervous system rewires old hurts. This may look like having more confidence in yourself, increased ability to identify what you are feeling, or feeling more hopeful about the future.
In attachment focused therapy, I’m staying present with you. I attune with you through curiosity, compassion, and drawing attention to the present experience of our relationship.
This new experience then transforms old attachment blueprints into something new.
